A Bengali Feast

Bhapa Sandesh

Sweetened cottage cheese steamed and flavoured with cardamom, and served with chocolate syrup.
TOTAL TIME: 30 minutes
100 ml
Hershey’s chocolate syrup
50 ml
50 gm
powdered sugar
50 gm
condensed milk
5 gm
cardamom powder
2 ltr
  1.  Heat milk in a vessel and bring it to a boil.
  2.  Add vinegar and curdle the milk.
  3.  Strain out the chenna or cottage cheese.
  4.  Knead the cottage cheese for 5 minutes to make a smooth paste.
  5.  Add sugar powder and cardamom powder and mix well.
  6.  Add the condensed milk and mix further.
  7.  Take a baking tray and spread the mixture evenly to half an inch thickness.
  8.  Place a steamer on the stove. When it starts to steam, place the tray inside and steam it for 20 minutes.
  9.  Remove and allow to cool to room temperature. Place in a refrigerator for a couple of hours.
  10.  Once cooled, cut into 1.5 inch squares.
  11.  Serve with chocolate sauce.
